“Whether it was two days or a month or a year that the cloud lingered over the tabernacle, staying above it, the sons of Israel remained camped and did not set out; but when it was lifted, they did set out.”

Israel followed God’s leading. There was a cloud that represented God’s presence that led them and it would rest for some time in a place and there they would set up camp. And when it would move, they moved. Sometimes it was a couple days, sometimes it was months to a year. However long it stayed wherever, they did just that. They followed God’s leading blindly through the desert.

I must trust God the same way. When I don’t know where I’m going or what I’m doing and God’s leading doesn’t seem to make sense, trust Him and just follow Him. Trust His Word, His promises, and go.
This trust and faith in God is what is necessary for salvation. Trust and faith in Jesus is what one needs for salvation.
