19: “Then shall ye do unto him, as he had thought to have done unto his brother: so shalt thou put the evil away from among you.”
Main Point: Get rid of sin in my life.
This passage is talking about false witnesses in basically a court of law situation. It said that if someone is discovered to be testifying falsely against someone, they were to do to the false witness as he wanted to do to the accused. This meant they were to kill him. In doing so, God says that they would be putting away evil from among themselves.
It is so important for me to remember this principle. Sin should not be characteristic of my life as a child of God and believer in Jesus. When I identify sin in my life or things that simply keep me from doing God’s will for my life, I should get rid of those things. Handel sign. Take every thought captive. Cut sin off and put it away from myself.
This is what the sacrifice of Jesus accomplishes for us. We are rid of sin when we put our faith in the blood of Jesus. He is the one who saves us and sanctifies us from sin.
