29:29, 30:11-14: “The secret things belong unto the Lord our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.”

Main Point: Concern myself with God’s revealed will.

This verse about the secret things belonging to God and the revealed things belonging to us is in the context of Moses giving the children of Israel the blessings and curses of following or not following God’s law. Towards the end of it all, he states this profound idea. There are plenty of things that God keeps secret. Many things of His will are secret, things about Himself that are secret, why certain things happen and how, etc. However, what Moses tell us is that while God has kept things secret, He has also made things very clear. The things that were made clear to us are for us. The secret things are for Himself, the revealed things are for us. We must concern ourselves with the revealed things and follow them instead of focusing on and striving to figure out the secret things.

I ned to remember this. Many times I can get so discouraged about the future, what will come of my life, or of the present, why certain things are happening the way they are, and the past, of why certain things happened or didn’t happen. However, I need to remember that those secret things are for God to understand and deal with. All I am to concern myself with is His revealed will, what I find in the Word. If I will be faithful to follow what He has given to me clearly in the Bible, I will be doing what He wants me to. It is not my job to figure Him out, it is my job to obey. I am His.

Part of God’s revealed will is that all men be saved. I should concern myself with sharing the gospel to all. Also, the gospel is part of God’s revealed will. He showed us Himself in Jesus. We see Jesus, we have seen the Father. Jesus is a revelation of God.
