One of the hardest things for me right now is figuring out what God is calling me to do. I know I’m supposed to be here in China for these six months, but what about after that? What about long term? What I see here is God telling Joshua what he is called to do next, God reassuring him that He’s got it, and God expecting built up faith and immediate action.

Basically, God is like, “There is a ton more land in the Promised Land that needs to be taken. Joshua, you are a failureĀ and there is no way that you are conquering the rest of this land by yourself. Get any crazy ideas of you being a ‘super hero senior citizen ‘ out of your head. But I told you that you would lead these people to take this land. I told you not to be afraid so don’t start now. I got this. Be strong and courageous because I got this. Now that that’s clear, split up this unconquered land among the people. Show me you believe that I can do this. Trust me and start splitting up this land. I know you’re an old man and you’re weak, but I’m strong.”

We should be prepared for all of this. If we want God to show us what to do next, we should be ready to accept the fact that 1) whatever it is, we don’t have the capability to do it ourselves, 2) God will be the one to work for us and through us, 3) we need to have faith in God already that He will do what He says, and 4) we should be ready to act immediately on that faith.
