Main point. God grows His people in strength and numbers.

This chapter is more genealogies, but there was something significant mentioned over and over. The idea: they were mighty men of valor and there were this many thousands of them. At least six times in this chapter, that concept of physical strength and numerical strength is repeated. God had taken His people from wandering ex-slaves to thousands of mighty men of valor.

I need to remember this. God is the one who causes growth in people. He can take a people from the lowest of lows to the highest of highs. He took overworked and oppressed slaves and turned them into mighty warriors. He does that. Not me, not any program, not even God’s Word. He can use me, He can use programs, and He uses His Word, but all those are just His tools to accomplish His ideas, His work, His plans.

This shows the gospel in showing what God does in the lives of His own children, in the lives of believers. He grows them.
