Main point. Forgive because God forgives.

In this chapter, Absalom has run away after killing Amnon but Joab convinces David to allow him to return. At first, when Absalom returns, David does not allow Absalom in his presence, then after it is shown to him how he is acting, he calls for Absoalom and kisses him. David forgives Absalom, his son, for killing his other son, Amnon.

I need to remember this. I have been forgiven by God. He is good to me. I have been a murderer, rapist, etc., but God welcomes me back with love. I should be the same to anyone who hurts me, wether it be directly or indirectly. The forgiven, forgive.

This shows the gospel by showing God’s forgiveness of mankind’s sin. He erases our sin by faith in the sacrifice of Jesus to pay for them. My God is a forgiving God.
